Deep Fried Bagel Sandwich

Deep-Fried-Bagel-SandwichLeave it to Southern Belle Paula Dean to find a way to deep fry a bagel. The traditional New York favorite gets a unique twist when offered below the Mason-Dixon Line and if you are in the mood for a fully fried bagel treat try this recipe.

Ingredients: Peanut oil, (2) everything NY bagels, 4 eggs, ¼ cup milk, 1 cup self-rising flour, 6 ounces smoked salmon, (1) red onion, Chive cream cheese, fried tomatoes and fried capers

Directions: Preheat peanut oil to 375 degrees F. Beat eggs with milk in a baking dish. Dip the bagels in the egg mixture and dredge in flour. Transfer the bagels into the deep fryer. Remove when golden brown; turning once half way through the cooking process. Transfer to a paper towel lined sheet tray to drain with tongs. Let cool completely. Top with chive cream cheese, slices of smoked salmon, thinly sliced red onion, fried tomatoes and fried capers.
